Your Guide to Nordic/Cross Country Skiing in Jackson Hole
There are a number of areas to nordic ski in Jackson Hole. Guided or unguided, touring on cross country skis is a great escape from the crowds. Being a more solitary expeience you can get in touch with your surroundings and take in some beautiful scenery and wildlife. Nordic skiing is great excercise and can access some of the more intimate areas of the valley.As Spring temperatures warm the valley many of the nordic areas will close due to lack of snow. There is still plenty of snow at higher elevations. You can explore the area on your own or take guided tour.
Jackson Hole Mountain Resort
At the base of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort lies a fabulous network of nordic trails.
Grand Targhee
Grand Targhee also hosts an amazing nordic trail system. It does have a little more up and down than some of the other nordic centers in the area. Targhees higher base elevations tends to allow for a longer season than other nordic areas.
The Targhee Express provides transportation and lift tickets to Grand Targhee on a daily basis.......

During the winter months Teton Pines hosts a nordic trail system throughout its property.

General Information
The early season can be a bit of a gamble in Teton County. With our low base elevation and inconsistent early snowfall, terrain is often limited until mid to late December. This may also be the nemesis for Spring skiing when rapidly warming days quickly melt the snow on the valley floor.
